It Really Is Simple
Mike was out of town so I went to church and Sunday school with Mom/Honey/ Sylvia. When we left church we met a friend in Calabash for oysters and then went shopping. We didn’t leave Myrtle Beach until dark and talked, all the way home, about my friend, the food, the fellowship and our finds! Mom said it was the best day ever and I thought about how I love to hang out with my girls. God reminded me how He loves to spend time with His kids - us!
In Mom’s Sunday school class, we talked about how we are to reach out to the least of these, the hurting and the helpless. Part of our heritage is to take care of the least, the lonely, the hungry and the hurting. As Christian’s we need to be alert, able, willing and spread the gospel. I learned our youth had been downtown helping the homeless. A lady had bought groceries for someone who asked for help while in the grocery store. One of the prayer requests convicted me. It was an honest appeal for the lady in the intersection, holding a sign for donations, for a baby with blood cancer. We prayed for the contributions needed and for God to restore health. I will begin adding the sign holders to my prayer list. Thank you, Agape class!
I enjoyed seeing friends at the 11:15 service! We sang powerful words to “Oh The Glory Of Your Presence”: “Oh the glory of Your presence. We Your temple give You reverence. Come and rise from Your rest and be blessed by our praise. As we glory in Your embrace. As Your presence now fills this place.”
In our Simplify sermon series we are getting back to the basics of loving God and loving others. John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commands.” Pastor Tim shared Luke 10: 27 several times, we are to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. This is simple but not easy. We will continue to mess up, fall and get knocked down but keep seeking Him! Spending time with God, puts everything else in perspective.
