How Big is Your God?

"A boy asked his Dad, ‘Dad, how big is God?'  Looking up at the sky his father saw an airplane and asked his son, 'How big is that airplane?'  The boy responded, 'It's small, Dad! You can hardly even see it!'  Then the father took his son to an airport hangar. Standing in front of one of the airplanes, the father asked, 'And now, how big is the airplane?'  The boy responded, 'Oh Daddy, this plane is enormous.'  At this point, the father said to him, 'That's how it is with God. How big he is depends on the distance between you and Him. The closer you are to him, the bigger he is in your life.'"

I love this.  It is so true!  The closer we are to God, the bigger He is in our life.  Also, our  concept of Him is great and powerful!  We are in awe of Him!  Our problems may be big but our Problem Solver is bigger!  When our God is too small, our problems are bigger and we experience fear and insecurity.

Remember: the more we know God, the bigger He becomes.  Job 11: 7-9, "Can you fathom the mysteries of God?  Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?  They are higher than the heavens–what can you do?  They are deeper than the depths of the grave–what can you know?  Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea."

Pastor Tim said we want to be made new in 2022 and there are some practices that will help us.  We can be made new through prayer and reading God’s Word. This shows our need for God and helps us be in communion with Him. Prayer changes things and prayer changes us.  Another practice is to stay in the Word.  Psalm 119:11, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

The more we learn about God, the more we get to know Him.  The more we get to know Him, the closer we feel to Him.  Our faith and love for Him begin to grow, making us want to learn more about Him and spend more time with Him and we desire to worship Him!

God is big enough to calm us when we are anxious.  He is big enough to bring us clarity and wisdom when we are confused.  He is big enough to meet all of our needs.  He is big enough to intervene when needed.  He is big enough to be trusted.  He is big enough to give us peace that we do not even understand.  Philippians 4: 7, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
