God Don't Make Junk
My daughter, Ivey, was a little ball of fun and creativity growing up. She always made us laugh and kept us on our toes! Honey, her grandmother, got her the perfect tee shirt that said, “I know I’m special cause God doesn’t make junk!” And she did know she was special!
In one of Pastor Barry’s devotion, he asked if we think we are special. Unlike a child, sometimes adults have a hard time thinking they are special. Some people may be envious of other people’s gifts.
1 Corinthians 4: 6, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” Although the gifts are different they all work to enrich the Kingdom of Heaven. They are all important!
In verses 8 - 11, we are told, “To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” Think about this. The Holy Spirit makes those gifts and chooses who gets what gift! Thanks Pastor Barry, I never stopped and really thought about God picking certain gifts just for me!
The Holy Spirit leads us in the use of our gifts. God has already put circumstances into place that need you or I to help draw someone in. We are God’s people for such a time as this. God knew He would need you right now, right here to do this! He draws, He calls us and He empowers us. In appreciation to Him, for the privilege of working for Him to further His Kingdom, let us use our gifts to serve others. 1 Peter 4: 10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.”
