Real Estate with God

A friend recently shared with me how they bought a restaurant during Covid-19.  They had been in the food business before, but never owned a restaurant.  They felt God nudging them to buy it.  In fact, they had never had that much peace about any other purchase.  They had excitement, even more than buying their home.

But this summer sales were way down.  Two schools they catered, both canceled, to no fault of theirs - just giving students another option.  They used those two catering jobs to pay the rent.  They could not find people to work.  They began doubting whether it had been God telling them to buy this restaurant.  They didn’t know if Covid-19 would shut them down again.

“I was at my lowest point and shedding lots of tears when a visiting pastor came to preach.  I could not believe he picked that sermon for that Sunday.  He preached from the story about Jeremiah buying a worthless piece of property in a war torn country.  He talked about the feelings Jeremiah had buying a worthless piece of property.  I felt the same way.  Why did Jeremiah buy it?  Because God told him to.  He said Jeremiah knew something.  He knew nothing is impossible for God!  Luke 1: 37, ‘For nothing will be impossible with God.’”

After that, she began hearing, “trust me”. Just in time, they would get a huge catering and/or a big day. The bills got paid and the salaries were met. God taught them to live one day at a time. “He will give us what we need for today and then tomorrow He will do the same. It just carries on.” Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” They know God has this and He continues to bless them! And through those tough times, they know their faith grew! As we sometimes sing, “even when we don’t feel it, He is working!”
