The Best Is Coming
Most of us have heard the story of Jesus turning the water into wine at a wedding. John 2: 3, "And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine.'” I have thought about how the servants must have felt when Jesus told them to fill the jars with water! John 2: 7, “Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. We know the end of the story but they didn’t and they still obeyed. John 2: 8, “Then he told them, ‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.’” I would have dreaded that. John 2: 10, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” Pastor Tim shared how the servants filled the jars with water even though it sounded crazy. When we get a word from God, we must go and do it, even when it does not make sense.
Weeks later I am still pondering that sermon. It occurred to me that the wine had to run out in order for them to get the best wine! God could have given them the same wine but He never gives us the same, He always gives us better! Ephesians 3: 20, “ Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…” No matter what is going on in your life: If your relationship is over; if your business is not making it; if your boss is playing politics; if your finances are a disaster; God is working.
Matthew 5: 3, “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” MSG When doors close or when seasons are hard it is not the end. We have to go through this for God to prepare us for what is next. When we let God fight our battles and walk with Him during the storm, then He will pour His favor on us! We have to leave the pity party, start praising God and we will see His great favor! 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” People nor conditions can stop what God has ordained! He will not let something happen that would stop our purpose! Move forward in faith. The best is yet to come!
