I Wanna Burn For You

I heard so many comments about the music on August 14, especially the drummer’s voice!  Our drummer, Sherome, sang “Refiner” by Maverick City Music and it was incredible.  “You're a fire. The refiner. I wanna be consumed… Lord, here's my life. I wanna be tried by fire… Lord, here's my life. Clean my hands, purify my heart. I wanna burn for you, only for You.”

Sherome leaves our Bridge service and goes to his church every Sunday playing the keyboard, drums, and bass.  He is a self-taught musician and does not like to be in the limelight, but He knows God has given him an incredible gift.  I believe he wants to burn for God and to be consumed!

Sherome said he was nervous, but he knew with God nothing is impossible.  Luke 1: 37, “For nothing will be impossible with God.”  With lots going on in his life, he is always walking around with a smile, not showing what is going on.  He said, “I had to sing because the song was more for me and I didn’t even know it.”  I love how God works!

Pastor Andy Lambert said, to be involved in a mission is an act of faith and when we give our time, we are a part of the mission.  It can be through singing, keeping the nursery, teaching Sunday School, cleaning the church, putting out chairs, doing sound, cameras, greeting, and the list goes on.  Whatever our gifts, we should be using them.  Sherome stepped out in faith and sang because he wanted to give back.  Pastor Andy also said, “when our gifts and graces meet God’s calling, that is a sweet spot!”

As we ended worship we sang, “God, You’re So Good”:  “Oh God, You're so good.  You're so good to me.  I am blessed, I am called.  I am healed, I am whole.  I am saved in Jesus' name.  Highly favored, anointed.  Filled with Your power.  For the glory of Jesus' name…”

How can we not burn for our Refiner and Purifier?
