God Still Speaks To Us

Recently, my heart was heavy as I got ready for church so I was talking to God to prepare my heart for worship.  I was trying to discern what I thought God wanted me to do.  If I was correct in hearing Him, then please help me with my unbelief while trusting His perfect ways and His perfect timing.  I asked Him to please speak to me.  1 Samuel 3: 9, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

The first song the Bridge Band led us in was, “Not Afraid” by Jesus Culture.  Imagine how overwhelmed I was when I sang the words, “You keep the promises you make. There isn't one that is delayed. So I will not lose heart, here, I will lift my arms, and start to sing into the night. My praise will call the sun to rise, declare the battle won, declare that it is done.”  He spoke to me during the first song!

Pastor Andy Lambert reminded us that God is still speaking to us just as He spoke to Jeremiah.  Sometimes we avoid the Bible because it is “a mirror to our soul”.  Scripture convicts us of sin and leads us to redemption and forgiveness.  James 1: 23, “For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.” (NLT)  When we stay in God’s Word, we know the truth!  If I want to trust God, I have to stay in His Word… The Truth!

I loved the story Pastor Andy left us with about a prisoner of war he met.  He was kept in a small cage, for a small dog, for quite a while.  He said out of all the tortures, the one that did not work was when they read him letters from his family.  They told him that his family did not love him and that his wife wanted a divorce.  The prisoner said it did not hurt because he knew his family loved him - because he knew the truth!

God loves us as His beloved children and we need to believe this Truth in our hearts!  We need to know the Truth!
