Coleby & Camp

Last year Coleby listened to his friends talk about how wonderful camp was so he finally decided to go. The week before his dad was sick and in the hospital making Coleby not want to go to camp. He decided it may be a needed distraction. He told his mom not to come to the talent show because it may make him homesick with all that was going on at home.

Coleby had not been back to camp since second grade because he was homesick and when he saw his parents at the talent show he wanted to leave with them. He said he cried all night and his mom remembers it well too! He said at least have parents come at the end of the week and laughed! God used this hard time to help Coleby be a great big MAC (met at camp) for his little Mac. He loved having a little MAC and now babysits him!

His favorite part of camp is the bonding. “Some of the people at camp you would not think you’d be friends with but they become friends for life. At church you are with your group, at camp you bond with others.” His other favorite parts are swimming because that is when you are with everyone! And of course, Vespers! “Looking at how still the lake is at night, the stories that are shared and how cool God is to create all of this!” Camp is now a highlight of his summer!

It’s awesome how the church family came together and people checked on him and his dad, all week. “When you’re going through something your church family is the strongest thing. People you don’t even know care about you!” We’ll see Coleby next year at camp!
