Mother's Day 2023
Motherhood is entered into many different ways including biologically, fostering, adoption, miscarriage and spiritual influence. Mother’s Day is difficult for some and we share in your grief and pray for you. Whether you consider yourself a “traditional” mother or not, recognize your important influence.
We have this in common: God made us unique, fearfully and wonderfully and we have the ability to influence others. God uses us! Psalm 139:14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” A wise man wrote Proverbs 31 recognizing godly women as industrious and intelligent.
Proverbs 31:27, the virtuous mother “keeps an eye on everyone in her household.” A virtuous mother believes Proverbs 29:17. “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.” After all of that hard work we get to Proverbs 31:28, “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her…” Be still my heart!
I think Jesus had a bigger vision of family than most of us. When his mother came looking for him, he said in Matthew 12:49-50, “Pointing to his disciples, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.’” “Regardless of how motherhood is defined, the one common thread is influence.” Let’s honor the “mothers” for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise. Thank You, God, for those godly women that influence our lives! Happy Mother’s Day!
