Rejoice with Me
I shared how I had lost a very special cross necklace on a black cord. Recently during a Sermon, Pastor Tim shared Luke 15: 8, “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?” I leaned over to say, “necklace” to Mom, as she said, “keys.” I swept my house for that necklace. God says do not be anxious about anything but pray about everything so I did. The lesson I shared with you is how much more valuable is a person - a lost sheep. Every time I thought about that necklace I would ask God to help me reach lost souls and help further His Kingdom. I need to use as much energy in finding lost souls as I do finding lost possessions! God wastes nothing, He used a necklace to teach me a valuable lesson!
As we have been talking about prayer and presence in our sermon series I have been studying Psalm 95: 1-7. “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” Worshipping God, coming into His presence, whether I am home alone, driving or at church, is joyful! He is a great God and a great King! He created everything including that beautiful ocean I love! He is our God! He loves us so much and cares about even the little things in our lives.
I talk to God because He is always there. But am I always with Him? No, I have to be intentional about being present with God. Psalm 116: 8-9, “For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.” The psalmist is living, knowing that God’s presence is with him in his life on this earth, not because of what God is going to do but because of what God has already done. I am comforted being in His presence. I talk, laugh, and cry with Him and the more I do this, the more I want to do this.
The day before I had shared the blog, “Lost And Found” on my personal blog, I had a text from a friend, yesterday morning, that said, “Just checking in to see how y’all are doing down there! And if you’ve found the cross…” I said no but I thought of two more places to look, with no luck. I thanked God, again, for the lesson I have learned. I thanked Him for bringing me to it if it was in my house but if it was gone to just give me peace and let me forget about it. Within moments, I realized I needed a package and receipt. I went to the box that I go in at least three times a week, and got what I needed. As I was putting the lid on, I saw a black cord. Could it be?! Yes, there was my necklace! I have no idea how it got there but I do know how I found it! God is so good that He even cares about the little things in our life! He loves us that much! Knowing God is with me, I don’t wait til a quiet prayer time! I just yelled, “Thank You, God!” and I kept thanking Him - all day and will today - at every thought! He is just so good! I called my friends and told them and they rejoiced with me. I am expecting to find Mom’s keys any day!
Remember, Luke 15: 9, “And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’”
Rejoice with me, I have found my lost necklace!
