The Sound of Dry Bones Rattling
I go to church very early so I often get to sit and prepare myself for worship. This is something I learned years ago that I need to do. The band was practicing and God began speaking to me immediately, before church began. They were playing, “Rattle!” by Elevation Worship. “Pentecostal fire stirring something new You're not gonna run out of miracles anytime soon. Yeah, resurrection power runs in my veins too and I believe there's another miracle here in this room. This is the sound of dry bones rattling. My God is able to save and deliver and heal And restore anything that He wants to. Just ask the man who was thrown On the bones of Elisha If there's anything that He can't do. Just ask the stone that was rolled At the tomb in the garden What happens when God says to move…’
I believe miracles happen constantly - we just need to be watching! I believe sunrises, sunsets, stars, flowers, the ocean, my life, your life, etc are all miracles. I felt touched to pray for us to see and feel the miracles in church each Sunday. Are we looking with excitement for miracles? I think of my favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 3: 20, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…” He can do what we can not imagine! Matthew 19: 26, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
When church began you could hear the excitement as people sang, “Rattle!” The Holy Spirit was rattling all around us! It sounded like everyone in there was praising and worshiping as loud as they could! When we sang Hillsong’s, “So Will I” I thought of all of God’s miracles. “You spoke to the dark And fleshed out the wonder of light And as You speak A hundred billion galaxies are born. In the vapor of Your breath the planets form…” What an awesome God we serve!
“This is amazing grace, This is unfailing love That You would take my place, That You would bear my cross!” (Phil Wickham)
