Christmas Outreach 2022

Mom (aka Honey or Sylvia) and I cannot thank you enough for all of your precious prayers, love and support during her recent hospital stay and tough time.  Prayers were answered and Mom is doing well! Thanks be to God!  I am so proud to belong to a church that serves each other and our community!  Isn’t that what Christmas is all about?  1 Timothy 6: 18-19,  “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.“

We are to represent Christ while on this earth, showing His love to everyone we meet.  We are called to invite others into our community of faith.  In the community, people care for each other.  They use their gifts to help each other.  Hebrews 13: 16, “Don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God."  Many people serve inside our  church but by going outside the church walls, we show God’s love to many who have never seen it.  Ephesians 4: 1, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”  Paul is saying, “all of you, together, are to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”  We are responsible for more than our own spiritual health!  We have all been called!

I cannot think of a better example of outreach than PVMC.  Here are some of the ways PVMC provided for our community.  Our annual Christmas outreach Christmas dinner serves over 3000 meals. We had an angel tree in support of the Methodist Home for children.  Two thousand Christmas cards are being sent out!  Grocery items were donated to make Christmas pantry bags for community call-ins or walk-ins. PVMC supplies homeless shelters with Christmas eve dinners.  Our community is fed Christmas eve dinner.  Small groups are supplying socks, toboggans and blankets for the unsheltered population in our community.  We sent 486 gift boxes for Operation Christmas child!  We had a Blue Christmas service for those experiencing grief during Christmas.  We hosted a shut-in and widows luncheon for those who are in need of Christmas cheer!  Christmas cheer was brought to our community by our children and adult’s musicals!

Thanks, PVMC, for being the hands and feet of Jesus!
