For Unto YOU

If you were at the homebound and widows luncheon you were blessed by the food, our devotion and the music  but the fellowship is always the best.  It was a blessing to me to get to walk around and visit and meet those who no longer come or go to another service. I met several ladies I have prayed for but never met face to face.  My eighth grade science teacher was there!

Pastor Barry gave encouraging remarks at this year’s luncheon and his words meant a lot during this time of hustle and bustle!  He asked if people were feeling stressed and ready for the holidays to be over. Some were ready for it to be over because of the busyness and some because their spouses are in Heaven this year.  For those of us feeling tired, it is because this is what the world tells us the season is about.  Shop til you drop, get your tinsel in a tangle, deck the halls and not your family!

No matter our circumstances we can look to Luke 2: 11 for comfort.  “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”  This is our reason for the season.  What is a savior?  According to the Oxford dictionary, a savior is “a person who saves someone or something from danger.

In Christianity, a Savior is “God or Jesus Christ as the redeemer of sin and saver of souls.”  Do we have room in our lives for this Savior?  A Savior who helps us in danger or difficulty.  As Pastor Barry said, we don’t have to look to our bank account or our government for help.  Our Savior is here for a time such as this.  He is here to help us during this Advent season.  And He came for you and for me!  Our personal Lord and Savior!

Let’s remember the good news of great joy!  Luke 2: 10, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”

Jesus is the reason for the season.

Unto YOU is born a Savior!
