Elvis Has Left the Building
Yes, you heard that right! Elvis has left the building after singing, “If I Can Dream” here at PVUMC. He looked a lot like our own Pat Sullivan but it was Elvis's voice and Elvis’s “moves”! This song was written about Martin Luther King’s dream that any change we want to see, in our lives, our church or in our world, begins with a dream.
On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached Joel 2: 28-29, “And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”
Pastor Tim shared this is a prophetic Word given by Joel and then confirmed by Peter saying the time is now. If we believe the gifts of the Spirit are still active and real, then God is still giving dreams and visions to his people and we need to concentrate on being a part of God’s dream.
I believe God has a plan for you and I, no matter how young or how old we are. Remember Pastor Tim says, “if you ain’t dead, you ain’t done!” If I allow God, He aligns my will with His and the seeds He has planted become my passion, my dream. As Pastor Andy said, that is our sweet spot! Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
I have been chatting with God a lot about my dream. I know He has been working on it all my life and even before. I can see His work in the last 30 years even though I was not aligned with Him. When I finally got on the same page with Him, I began waiting and I am still waiting. It’s ok for Him to wait 30+ years but I don’t want to wait two years! I prayed as I filled out the dream card at church, I thanked Him for what He is doing and told Him I trust Him. I got home and checked my phone and I had a text that was an answer to that prayer!
