I am Yours and You are Mine

My family and I had just spent seven days together at the beach enjoying the most beautiful sunsets. The pictures God painted for us in the sky, after the sunset, were amazing.  When we didn’t think it could get any prettier it did!  Dinners were planned around the sunsets!  One night the kids took the boat out and saw 30 dolphins with the sunset in the background!  After the blessing, someone said, “Thank You, Jesus, for letting us see all the dolphins tonight!”  The distant hurricane changed the calm ocean into an angry one and I was in awe of the power in that ocean. God continued to show us His power and His love through His creation.  Before Mike and I left, we stood on the deck thanking God for a great week, for the beauty He shared with us and how He spoke to us through His creation.  We prayed for those who just left and those who would come after us to see God’s handiwork and for their hearts to be touched.

We had our own fishing tournament but no catching. Mike and I laughed when Pastor Tim began his sermon with Peter’s reply in Luke 5: 5, “But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”  Part of my family felt discouraged like Peter.  But Peter went on to say, “nevertheless”.  In verses 6-7, “And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.  So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.”  It is easy to end the sentence before “nevertheless”!  That is my “take home” that I need to work on.

Our last song that Sunday was “Oceans” by Hillsong and it summed up my week.  “My soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine.”

God, I am Yours and You are mine!
