The Surge Spirit

Coleby attended the youth conference, Surge, which is the highlight of his summer. It is good to have this time before school starts. Just like he wants to clean his room before school starts, to get rid of the clutter and distractions, he wants to be refreshed and clean his heart. Surge refreshes him. He will be ready to start school with a fresh start! 

Why does Coleby love Surge so much? Because Surge is “our time”. He loves all of his other activities like ASP, IGNITE and camp but this is just for them! When I first asked him about Surge he told me that they cry all the time. Then he followed up with, “but it is a good cry. And if you are a youth you need to go. You will never forget the services.” His favorite part of the weekend is Sunday because of communion and the music selection. The music is centered around youth and it is “big”! 

Coleby appreciates the free time because you can go to the beach, pool or workshops. Pastor Chris and the leadership let them choose what they want to do. He heard the workshops were good but he and his friends chose the beach because it is the most peaceful and they discussed their experiences. “Our group was forced to go to Pastor Tim’s thing but it was worth it. That was a good call. Watching the waves and hearing Pastor Tim brought peace. It wasn’t like a normal Sunday morning!” So proud of our youth and I love the wonderful spirit at Surge!
