Feeling Unsettled in This World
It is hard to believe that 21 years ago we saw two planes hit the twin towers. We were stunned! I worried about the world my girl’s were going to grow up in. A dark blanket of grief and confusion fell on our country. I struggled until I realized I was going to have to turn things over to God and trust His Word. Today, again, I find myself feeling unsettled in this dark world.
On the first anniversary of the attacks, Charles Stanley wrote, “...Sometimes we need to be shaken out of our forgetfulness and into reliance upon Jesus Christ.” We have definitely been shaken and we have to rely on God!...But the one thing I do know is that God is good. All the time! God brings good from bad situations. Romans 8: 28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” I look at how COVID caused me to prioritize my life, yet again.
My heart breaks as I watch churches turn their backs on God and His Word. I cannot imagine going through tough times without His Word! Matthew 24: 21, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” I have to hold on to His Truth! Proverbs 3: 3, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”
Trust God with your struggles, He is the one constant in our lives. Hebrews 13: 8, “ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” We will never be alone and God will never leave us. Deuteronomy 31: 6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Let us be in prayer for God’s healing and peace for those affected in 2001 and for those struggling now. As we discern the direction of our church, let's ask God to guide us.
