5-4-3-2-1 Blastoff!

PVMC had an amazing week of Vacation Bible School with over 300 children and a lot of wonderful volunteers! We surpassed our goal of $2000 and raised $3,283.32 to donate to the Sleep In Heavenly Peace mission. This will provide beds for at least 16 children in Wilmington who do not have a bed to sleep on. We had the largest group of kids come back to sing on Sunday morning! 1 Timothy 1:17, “All honor and glory to God forever and ever! “

This is Katherine’s baby! She started as a crew leader and now directs VBS. This is an outreach and she loves seeing the tiny disciples come to life! When I asked her why she serves in this way she said she loves children and has a passion for this. Then she said, “we are supposed to serve!” 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” After 20 years, Candace is serving her last year in this ministry. Thank you to both of them for serving our children!

There are so many ways to serve with VBS. People volunteer by donating supplies, pray, build and paint sets, advertise, set up and that is before VBS starts! Almost 150 volunteers served during the week, teaching, singing, being crew leaders, assistants, crafts, snacks, etc. Katherine said she wants to tell people, “come serve with us. It is fun and spiritually rewarding!” This has been proven many times as stories continue to come in from volunteers who felt they had been so blessed by serving! Someone said that it had been the best day of their life - just to be a part of VBS. Several had forgotten how much they enjoy working with kids. Many were surprised by how rewarding the week was. Many were reignited by serving. Acts 20:35, “‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” If you love to form sweet bonds with children and want to feel you have a small part of the impact on their spiritual life you should volunteer with the children’s ministry!
