Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing

Our minds continue to be blown with so many new visitors each Sunday.  My first Sunday at PVUMC I was overwhelmed being in the presence of God and I could feel the Holy Spirit.  I promised God, right then, that I will never settle in my worship again.  He deserves the best! At the end of Pastor Tim’s prayer he often says, "let us be challenged, changed and never get over it.”  Every Sunday I am challenged and changed!

These are the same things I continue to hear from our visitors and new member’s!  Worship!  PVUMC strives for excellence in worship and it shows.  As Pastor Tim says, I believe our church is so blessed because we are keeping the main thing, the main thing!

The definition of Christian worship is reverent honor and homage paid to God.  Worship means to bow down to God.  Worship should be a priority in our life.  It takes sacrifice to go to worship because some of us have to get up earlier than we like, some of us have to wait and hit the beach, boat, golf course, ball game, etc., later.  Romans 12: 1, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."  David got up and went to the house of the Lord and worshiped.  2 Samuel 12: 20,  "Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped."  We were created to worship.  When we worship, we change!

Psalm 96: 4, "For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise…” Let's think about that next time we are at church.  I love the way Michael W Smith says it in "The Heart of Worship, "...it's all about you,  It's all about you, Jesus!"
