If Only They Knew
It’s not that I want to shove Jesus down someone’s throat but, wow, if they KNEW. If they KNEW how He can transform us, take away all that bitterness, sorrow, anxiety, hurt and depression. We boast because He is MIGHTY! We are sinners who need a Savior! During revival, Pastor Andy showed us how we are more sinful, more broken and more lost than we know. He said the greatest illusion of the human race is that we are good people. “We are not in traffic, we are the traffic.” No matter what we have done God is never less in love with us! He is dearly and passionately in love with us!
If we got a glimpse of every time we hurt God, we would be weeping of that knowledge or weeping at all of the grace He has extended us! And He loves us anyway! We can get into God’s Word which is like a mirror to our soul. It shows us the real stuff! We need to ask God to get into all the crevices of our heart and tell us what we need to work on. That is a hard prayer because no one wants to hear the negative about themselves but we ALL have things we need to work on. Repentance is not one and done. We mess up continuously asking God not to give up on us. If we skip repentance, we skip redemption!
Real repentance is raw and painful but when it is real, then there is redemption and as Pastor Andy said, it does not end there! With redemption, we get to know Jesus. We are forgiven. We are wiped clean and the Bible tells us He forgets it. Jeremiah 31:34, "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." I like how Pastor Andy said it, “He throws our sin into the ocean with a no fishing sign!” God will use us! We don’t have to pretend we have it all together. We have a church family. The closer we get to Jesus, the more we see how much He loves us. His Light is greater than any darkness we are in. We are a new creation and God is raising us up to a new life! We have to tell them so they will know!
